What is your favorite memory from the Maple Art Theater?

Regardless if you were one of the denizens who saw every independent and foreign language film the Maple Art showcased since being built in 1974 or simply an area resident for any length of time, it was hard to ignore the three-screen cinema at Maple and Telegraph.

For those with ties to the Bloomfield Township favorite, which Landmark chief executive officer Ted Mundorff said would close at the end of January upon losing its lease, Patch readers reacted to the breaking news and shared some memories:

• Alan Stamm: (via Patch): My wife and I walked there from our first Michigan residence, Whethersfield Apartments nearby on Telegraph, and remained confident – 'til now – that most choice new releases reviewed in the New York Times would wind up at the Maple or the Main sooner or later.
• @lisabrody: (Twitter): So sad–Maple Art Theater closing at the end of the month. I've seen so many movies there.
• ExTroyGal: (via Patch): The first movie I remember seeing there was "The Gods Must Be Crazy" back when it was called The Maple 3. Every movie I saw there was excellent. Love that place!
