5 Things Your Child Can Learn in a Red Cross Babysitting Class

West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation offers a day-long certification class on Nov. 23.

West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation is offering an American Red Cross class for young people ages 11 to 15 who want to become certified babysitters. 

According to the Red Cross, the training provides benefits for those looking to start a career in child care, but also prepares kids to help out in an emergency

Here are five things your child will learn in the day-long Nov. 23 class, held at the Aquatic Center:

  • Perform basic child care skills like diapering and feeding
  • Choose age appropriate games and toys
  • Handle bedtime and discipline issues
  • Identify safety hazards and prevent injuries
