Why go: If you missed the family fun fest at Waterford Oaks Waterpark a few weeks ago, here's another opportunity for all the fun at Red Oaks Waterpark. The waterpark is offering an economical way for families to have a fun time spending a summer evening together. The Soak Station, waterslide, wave pool, spray and play toddler areas, and water playground will all be open to 9 p.m. As if that doesn't offer enough fun, the waterpark will also have old school playground games, a puppet show, bounce house, scavenger hunt, and carnival games. With all these activities there will be something for everyone in your family to enjoy.

2.

Where:

When: Saturday at 10 a.m.

Why go: The goal of this festival is to help spread the word on how bats play an important part in ecosystems around the world. There will be bat crafts, an inflatable cave, a guano dissection station, live bat programs, live music, a special live birds of prey program in the evening, a conservation station, guest speakers, if it's bat related it will be here. This festival is not only fun, it's educational.

3.

Where: Green Lake, West Bloomfield

When: Saturday at dusk

Why go:  If you spent the holiday weekend up-north and are craving some local fireworks then head on over to Green Lake.  They will send up over a 1000 fireworks in the sky for the community to enjoy.

4.

Where:

When: Sunday at 2 p.m.

Why go: Cool off by staying indoors and watching two Oscar winning movies, Million Dollar Baby and Lord of the Rings, and enjoy a dinner buffet during intermission.  Two movies, dinner buffet, pop and popcorn for only $10? That's what I call a real bargain.

5.

Where:

When: Sunday at 1 p.m.

Why go: The flag was originally destroyed in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks. Seven years later tornado survivors in Kansas stitched in back together.  The flag has now been referred to as "our generation's Star-Spangled Banner." Today it will visit our city where local heroes will have the first opportunity to add some stitches, then the public will be able to stitch it. You have an opportunity to participate in this historic privilege before it becomes part of the National September 11 Memorial Museum that is being built.
