Halloween Trick-or-Treat Hours in Oakland County

It's the final week before Halloween and Patch has you covered for all the new trends, information, and tips you will need to make the best of the spooky holiday.

Let's continue our Halloween countdown. The big day is only six days away, and Patch wants to make sure you are ready.

In Oakland County, trick-or-treat times vary from community to community.  In West Bloomfield kids, can trick-or-treat from 6-8 p.m.

Planning on going to a neighboring city? Let's check out their hours:

If you are planning on going trick-or-treating in a friend's neighborhood a little further out from us, here are other city trick-or-treat hours you should observe:

  • Auburn Hills: 6-7 p.m.
  • Brighton: 6-8 p.m.
  • Clarkston: 6-7 p.m.
  • Huntington Woods: recommended  6-8 p.m.
  • Madison Heights: 6-8 p.m.
  • Milford: 6-8 p.m.
  • Northville: 6-8 p.m.
  • Lake Orion: 6-8 p.m.
  • Oxford: 6-7:30 p.m.
  • Pontiac: 6-7 p.m.
  • Rochester: 7-8 p.m.
  • Rochester Hills: 6-8 p.m.
  • Royal Oak: no set hours. Parents should use their discretion.
  • South Lyon Township: 6-8 p.m.
  • Troy: recommended 6-8 p.m.
  • Wixom: 6-8 p.m.

My first thought when I looked this over is gone are the days when the oldest kids stopped by at 9 p.m. and my mom dumped whatever candy was left into their pillow cases.

On the other hand, now that I am a mom I can totally understand why cities choose to observe these hours. I am actually thankful for the hours, because I also have a dog that likes to bark at everything that walks by. Since most little ones are in bed by 9 p.m., it makes sense. By 8 p.m. kids feet are usually tired and they get just enough time to head home to let parents check their goody bag and enjoy a sweet treat or two.

Remember if you run out of candy or are ready to close shop on the door-to-door fun you can always turn your porch light off.

Check back in with the West Bloomfield Patch tomorrow for more information on Halloween in West Bloomfield.
