American History Cable Show Rides into Holocaust Memorial Center

The episode, which includes a number of metro Detroit landmarks, will air sometime this fall.

American Ride, a cable TV show hosted by Harley-riding former football player and high school history teacher Stan Ellsworth, filmed a segment at the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills Friday.

The visit to the museum on Orchard Lake Road was part of a four-day tour of Detroit-area landmarks, including the GM Building, Yankee Air Museum and Henry Ford Museum.

According to a press release, American Ride "explores the trails of our nation’s history, bringing the past alive" as Ellsworth visits historic sites across the country. His passionate narrative is unscripted, and "with his gruff baritone voice he is equal parts academician, patriot, football coach, and road warrior."

The Detroit scenes will be part of the show's fifth season, devoted to "The Progressive Era", and will air sometime in September or October. Previous seasons have covered America's colonization and expansion, the Civil War era and The American West.

Produced by BYUtv, the nation's only university-owned TV network, the show can be viewed in Michigan on DirecTV, Dish Network and Charter cable system, or streamed at BYUtv.org.
