Controversy Swirls About Matt Bomer and 'Fifty Shades' Film

Actor may be too gay to play Christian Grey, says one best-selling author, but some West Bloomfield Patch readers disagree.

The in the screen adaptation of E L James' sizzling best seller 'Fifty Shades of Grey' has taken a controversial turn. 

Bret Easton Ellis, author of 'American Psycho,' is generating a lot of buzz for comments about actor Matt Bomer's possible selection to play the lead role in an upcoming film, The Huffington Post reports.

The openly gay actor that had ladies swooning in this summer's Magic Mike movie about male strippers is an "absolutely ludicrous" choice, Ellis declared.

"Okay I'll say it. Matt Bomer isn't right for Christian Grey because he is openly gay. He's great for other roles but this is too big a game," Ellis tweeted, according to HuffPo.

Out of the running as a possible screenwriter for the movie, rights for which were recently sold to major Hollywood studios, Ellis continued explaining his rationale on social media.

"I think Matt Bomer is incredibly handsome and a good actor but I think he comes off totally gay in White Collar. And that is why no to CG...," he Tweeted again later, HuffPo reported.

In our readers picked Alexander Skarsgard and Lily Collins for the leads (21 percent), followed by Colin Egglesfield and Amanda Seyfried (14 percent). But a vast majority (51 percent) preferred other actors.
