Charach Gallery Celebrates 20 Years

The of Metropolitan Detroit’s will celebrate its 20th anniversary with an exhibit and sale from noon-3 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at the gallery, 6600 W. Maple Road in West Bloomfield.

The exhibit, which runs through July 24, will feature new works by artists who have previously shown in the gallery.

Endowed by Natalie & Manny Charach of West Bloomfield in memory of their daughter, Janice, the gallery hosts exhibits of Jewish art and works by new and emerging artists from throughout the world. Exhibitions have included glass, ceramics, multimedia, panting, fiber arts, photography and more.

This past year alone, the gallery hosted “,” a collection of photos and memorabilia celebrating Jews in the music industry; a diverse collection of glass vases, jewelry and wall hangings, in honor of Glass Month; and “Not Your Grandma’s Fiber Show,” with sweaters, purses and more.

Janice Charach (1950-1989) began studying art when she was 6 years old. She was a painter, a graduate of the Center for Creative Studies and the recipient of numerous awards including honors from the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Michigan Watercolor Society Annual Exhibition and the Scarab Club.

The gallery is open to the general public at no charge. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday Noon – 4 p.m. For information, please call Gallery Director Terri Stearn at 248.432.5579.
