DSO Neighborhood Concert Series - Marriage of Figaro and Appalachian Spring

The DSO kicks off its brand new Neighborhood Series in West Bloomfield Township with Leonard Slatkin leading the orchestra in performances of Aaron Copland’s evocative story of American pioneers Appalachian Spring and Brahms idyllic First Serenade.

Appalachian Spring was commissioned by the legendary modern dancer and choreographer, Martha Graham. The ballet was debuted, with Graham dancing the lead role, on October 30, 1944 at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. Check out Graham’s powerful interpretation of the ballet here.
