West Bloomfield Man Tapped to Lead HAP

James Connelly will also serve as executive vice president of Henry Ford.

West Bloomfield Township resident James M. Connelly, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Henry Ford Health System, has been appointed president and CEO of Health Alliance Plan, (HAP), Michigan’s second largest health insurance company, and executive vice president of Henry Ford.

According to a press release, Connelly previously served a dual role as HAP interim president and chief executive officer and Henry Ford executive vice president and chief financial officer.

“Jim’s accomplishments during the past 14 years with Henry Ford as CFO and treasurer have been instrumental to our success,” said Nancy Schlichting, CEO of Henry Ford. “During Jim’s tenure, the health system revenues doubled to $4.5 billion and our assets grew from $2 billion to $3.5 billion. Henry Ford has been profitable for the past decade.”

Among other accomplishments, Connelly oversaw the $360 million construction of Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital.
