UPDATE: Weather Service Issues Winter Weather Advisory

Wind will continue to blow as high as 26 mph.

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Total snowfall accumulations were lighter than expected Wednesday morning, as the weather service had predicted between 1-4 inches. However, wind will continue. A steady northwest wind between 14-17 mph is expected, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Tonight is expected to be mild.

"A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties," states the weather service. "Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities."

West Bloomfield Police Lt. Tim Diamond urged caution on the roads.

"Drop your speed and leave plenty of space between you and the car in front of you," Diamond said. "The majority of our accidents are rear-enders."
