'Made in Detroit' Among Most Popular eBooks

Township librarian Dana Kratt shares the most popular eBooks at the West Bloomfield Public Library in 2011.

The West Bloomfield Township Public Library system had a big year in 2011, marked by several events, but one of the biggest changes was the growth in popularity of eBooks, according to librarian Dana Kratt.

"They have definitely become more popular this year than in recent years," she said last week.

Kratt offered the top-five, most-popular eBooks at the Library in 2011:

  • The Help: A Novel by Kathryn Stockett (Amy Einhorn Books/Putnam, 2011)
  • In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson (Crown, 2011)
  • Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson (Vintage Crime/Black Lizard, 2009)
  • The Confession by John Grisham (Dell, 2011)
  • Made in Detroit by Paul Clemens (Anchor, 2006)

Kratt also suggested two titles, perhaps, for those who received an eReader over the holiday season and were eager to get into a good book:

  • Ready Player One by Ernest Cline (Crown, 2011)
  • Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close: A Novel by Jonathan Safran Foer (Mariner Books, 2011)
