Ashes to Go on Feb. 13th!

Drive-through Ashes To Go!

Ash Wednesday is Wed, Feb 13.  For Christians, this is an important rite to mark the beginning of the pre-Easter season known as Lent. However, anyone is welcome to receive ashes, either at the Drive-Through times or at the Noon or 7:00 PM Services.

If you only have a short period of time, Drive Through Ashes To Go may be for you!   Simply pull up to the front of Sylvan Lake Lutheran Church (2399 Figa Avenue, West Bloomfield, MI) anytime between 7:30-9AM or 4-6PM, roll down your window and a church member will make a sign of the cross with ashes on your forehead, and offer to pray with you.

A cross of ashes on Ash Wednesday is a ritual reminding us we are mortal and return to dust one day, It also reminds us we have been saved by God through Jesus Christ to have hope and joy in the midst of a finite life.  You do not need to be Christian to receive ashes.  Lent is a time of renewal and refreshment in the Christian church.  It is a season lasting forty days and ends on Easter Sunday (Mar 31, 2013).
