Alexander Zonjic, Flute Choir Perform Free Concert in West Bloomfield

The famed flutist performs with the Testimony vocal group and a student flute choir under the direction of Barbara Ogar.

Jazz flutist Alexander Zonjic and some special guests will present a spirited holiday musical celebration Dec. 15, 2 p.m., at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, 6777 W. Maple.

The free concert also features Testimony and Barbara Ogar and her Student Flute Choir in the Ravitz Foundation Main Atrium. It will include a blend of holiday classics, jazz, blues, classic and gospel music including the unique sound of a full flute orchestra.

Zonjic said the concert fits well with the hospital's commitment to serving as a community center for well being.

“Given the vision and mission of this beautiful new institution, we felt the idea of holding a top notch musical concert as a gift for the community, was a perfect fit," he said. "There is no question that enjoying music can be a powerful tool for creating better health and well being.”

Zonjic hosts a syndicated radio show called "Alexander Zonjic from A to Z" that airs on Canadian radio and WVMV’s HD2 Channel. He won the 2010 Album of the Year and Broadcaster of the Year at the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards. In addition to performing in one hundred concerts a year, Zonjic is the artistic director for numerous music festivals.

Flutist Barbara Ogar's 30-member Flute Choir includes performers as young as age 10, and Testimony, the inspiring five-member singing group, combines gospel, jazz, blues and pop influences in their uplifting performances.

Free parking is available at the Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital. Call 248-325-1000 for concert information or visit zonjic.com.
