McCready Republican For 40th District State Rep

West Bloomfield is a Key community in Oakland County and it deserves the best representation possible in Lansing.

Key word “State Rep” That means if elected he will represent you and West Bloomfield In Lansing. Why is that important? Because West Bloomfield is important. Very Important. More than many who live outside the Township limits realize. With 64,690 residents it dwarfs anything  (City or Township) in the 40th district which includes Bloomfield Township, (pop 41,070)  Birmingham(20,103) and The City of Bloomfield Hills (3800). In the 39th district  West  Bloomfield  tops its nearest rival Commerce Township (35,000)  by a margin of almost two to one. That is why the political powers that be decided  West Bloomfield was big enough for two districts.

Populations size is just the beginning. West Bloomfield is served by seven school districts. The City Hall Library complex is the size of a shopping mall. In fact the West Bloomfield Library is the only City or Township in the 39th or 40th district to have a branch library. The 2011 Equalized  Valuation For West Bloomfield ($5 Billion,231 million, 581,250 thousand)  is in Oakland County second only to that of Troy’s $4,540.412,680 equalized value. Oakland County with Cities and Townships added together  is more than 73 billion Value wise.

I got these numbers Oakland County Register of Deed 2012 directory. I am a resident of City of Bloomfield Hills. Aside from the fact that it is there, most of the residents in our City  aren’t really aware of West Bloomfield.  I was that way three months ago. Many West Bloomfield residents are unfamiliar with Candidate Michael McCready. As a McCready Volunteer I have spent a delightful summer walking the streets of West Bloomfield  extoling the virtues of  my candidate and learmning about the township. Believe it or not in some portions of the Township, the City of Bloomfield Hills is only five minutes away.

Michael McCready is 51 years of age.  A lifelong residents of Bloomfield Hills (because of school district lines) he attended Birmingham schools Covington, and Seaholm (Class of 1978) before working his way through Western Michigan University(Class of 1983). Today he owns a business in Birmingham Michigan. He is a family man and a father of two school age kids. He resides  in the City of Bloomfield Hills where he is a former Mayor, a City Commissioner for 5 years, and is currently the City’s Vice Mayor.  Despite a business  which requires extensive  and sometimes overnight travel he has never in his years as Mayor or City Commissioner missed a City Commission meeting. On an annual basis for his service to the City he is paid $5 a month or $60 dollars a year. The same as any commissioner.

If that sounds like somebody you would like to have working for you, Michael McCready as State  Rep will do just that. The Detroit Free Press endorsed him. They said his municipal experience would benefit the Townships (Bloomfield and West Bloomfield) and the Cities (Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills) very well. They also thought McCready’s city skills would be a benefit to  a state legislature in nation where many cities are facing foreclosure.

On the job  in the City of Bloomfield Hills, McCready when faced with the prospect of consolidation, which the people vehemently opposed, maintained the Public Safety Department the people wanted. When the residents rejected yet another $500,000 a year Library Millage, he got a contract with the  the Baldwin Library in Birmingham for $184,000 per year. As commissioner he helped balance the City's Budget and maintain a Triple A bond Rating.

What will he do for the residents of West Bloomfield ?  Many things. Many of which the residents of West Bloomfield are already doing on their own.  All they need is some help from Lansing. Someone who  listen and work with  them. When McCready’s Mayor term of office was over, an area publication which covers many communities had this to say about him.

As Mayor McCready, has shown great respect for residents opinion allowing them to express themselves at public hearing, listening attentively to their point of view and responding in kind."

McCready has always been a man of the people but in the City of Bloomfield Hills there were those who argued that he was more lucky than good. No one could however argue with the results he produced. There have been other Mayors  who thought they were good but wound up just “unlucky.” Listening to the people for them, was not a priority.

There are those of us in the City who are rather envious of West Bloomfield. Not for your lakes or size but for the opportunity we had in 2010-2011 that you may have and that is the chance to see representational democracy done right.
