Those dreaming of a white Christmas this year — might see nothing short of a miracle Tuesday morning.

The weather report for the Greater West Bloomfield area is calling for snow showers on Thursday and Friday with temperatures ranging from 33 to 25 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The chance for precipitation is 80 percent on Thursday and 60 percent on Friday. There could be as much as one and a half inches of snow by Saturday morning — just three days shy of Christmas Day.

If there is snow on the ground this weekend, it will likely hang around until the big day because temperatures are expected to range from 24 degrees Saturday night to 33 degrees on Christmas Day. On the Fahrenheit scale, the freezing point of water is 32 degrees, so the outside air could remain cold enough to keep the white stuff around long enough to open a few gifts.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) seems to believe in miracles. MDOT released a public request Thursday morning to remind drivers to keep their distance from snowplows when they’re working.
