Brief: Fallen Tree Shuts Down Pontiac Trail

No one was injured as a 150-foot tree falls over the road Friday morning.

Morning commutes were slowed Friday morning when a 150-foot tall tree fell down on Pontiac Trail near Woodbine Circle.

The Road Commission for Oakland County received a call at 6:45 a.m. that a tree had fallen on a 2000 Dodge Dakota being driven eastbound on Pontiac Trail, spokesman Craig Bryson said.

The man driving the car was unhurt, according to West Bloomfield Police Lt. Tim Diamond, although the dead ash tree with a trunk four feet in diameter did stretch out across the entire road and damaged his vehicle.

The commission shut down the road from 7:30-9 a.m., Bryson said.

The tree, which was on private property, was likely felled by heavy wind gusts, Bryson said.
