A contractor working on a foreclosed home in Oakland County made a startling discovery Wednesday in the attached garage at the home.

The “mummified” body of a woman believed to be the owner of the home – who neighbors had reportedly not seen in years – was found in the back seat of a Jeep parked in the garage of the home, located on Savanna Drive in Pontiac, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Neighbors thought the woman, who was in her 40s, had moved out of the country, Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe said.

The license plates on the Jeep expired in 2008.

An autopsy showed no sign of trauma, but officials have not yet determined a cause of death.

Deputies dressed in haz-mat suits planned to go through the house today. McCabe said it appears the home, which had neither electricity nor heat, had black mold.
