Fireworks Set West Bloomfield Home Ablaze Monday

Authorities say the home on Comfort Court suffered heavy damage after a neighbor's fireworks fell onto the roof.

West Bloomfield Township fire officials say fireworks set off by a neighbor are to blame for an early morning house fire Monday.

According to a fire department press release, crews from five stations dispatched at around 2:20 a.m. to 2495 Comfort Court arrived within minutes of the call to find flames on the cedar shake roof of the Walnut Lake lakefront home.

An aggressive offensive fire attack was immediately established. The home suffered heavy fire damage in the attic and one bedroom, and the entire home suffered extensive smoke and water damage.

Awakened by her alarm company, the homeowner confirmed the fire by opening her attic scuttle stair. The alarm company contacted the emergency dispatch center.
