Police Arrest West Bloomfield, Wixom Youths for Stealing Packages

West Bloomfield Police say a group of teens arrested Tuesday may face charges over packages stolen from as many as a dozen homes in West Bloomfield and Commerce Township.

Lieutenant Timothy Diamond said the Oakland County Sheriff's Department had issued an alert about a vehicle related to the thefts, and a West Bloomfield officer who was responding to a stolen package call spotted the vehicle in a West Bloomfield neighborhood.

The officer stopped the vehicle, and all four teen-aged occupants–three from West Bloomfield and one from Wixom–were taken into custody. Diamond said all of the teens cooperated with police.

"An inventory search of the vehicle found numerous opened boxes with merchandise in them," he added.

Items found in the vehicle included clothing, boots, ice skates, an air hockey game, an Awkward Family Photos game, My Little Pony toys and merchandise from Toys R Us. They had been in boxes left outside the homes by delivery services.

Police are in the process of pairing up the items with the homes from which they were taken.

Diamond said the four teens were released, pending the issuance of a warrant by the Oakland County prosecutor's office.
