'Looking for a friend' in another man's car

A homeowner on the 6300 block of West Eastbrooke confronted two men stealing items from his vehicle, which parked in his garage, around 3:50 a.m. Friday, according to Police Lt. Tim Diamond.

The homeowner told police he asked what the two were doing in his vehicle, and, according to Diamond, they replied that they were "lost and looking for a friend." The two then left in their vehicle, a white Nissan Pathfinder that was parked in the street, but not before the homeowner had written down the license plate number, Diamond said.

Felonious assault and battery at prom

A Walled Lake Northern High School student's prom was ruined before it began Thursday at , where the event was being held. Diamond said the 17-year-old victim, a West Bloomfield resident, had arrived with her date when four people approached and assaulted her.

The main suspect, an 18-year-old woman from Detroit, was previously known to the victim after a fight the two of them had had in Detroit two weeks prior. She and a 21-year-old male, a 26-year-old female and a fourth party, all from Detroit, pulled the victim's hair, ripped her dress and fled the scene, according to Diamond. Diamond added that the victim's date scuffled with the 21-year-old male, but neither sought medical attention. Diamond said that there was no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved.

Police arrived at the scene that night to find that the victim had also fled. She came to the police station the next day, with a bump on her head, and reported the crime. Police are seeking a warrant for the four suspects.
