Police Still Searching for Vandals in North Side Subdivision

West Bloomfield Township Police Department reports from Nov. 7-14 included 69 alarms, 47 crashes and 10 arrests. Among the highlights: 

Tires punctured on several cars parked at Odessa

Police are still searching for who they believe to be more than one person damaging vehicles at several addresses over the past few weeks.

Police Lt. Tim Diamond said that seven residents of Odessa Drive reported cars parked in the street or the driveway having their tires punctured during the overnight hours of Nov. 7.

That same night, residents on Timber Ridge, Apple Grove, Auburndale, Pointview, Post, and Bloomfield Oaks reported several property destruction-incidents to their vehicles, as well, including broken windows. 

In recent weeks, cash, electronics and sporting equipment have been reported missing from vehicles parked on other streets in the area.

While police have no suspects, Diamond said, officers on routine patrol at about 3 a.m. Nov. 6 found two people considered suspicious in the same neighborhood who could be connected with the previous incident. The possible suspects fled on foot and while officers converged on the neighborhood, Diamond said, the suspects could not be found.

Will it end soon? Diamond said that residents can help expedite the interest of the suspects by putting vehicles in their garage or simply removing any and all valuable items.

"Without looking at the numbers, I'd say these come in waves. Obviously, there's a crew out doing it now. It's probably kids. They'll do it for a while and then they'll stop," Diamond said.

"The bottom line is, do not leave anything visible in the car. Even if the door is locked. If they see something they want, they'll break the window." 

Cash stolen from animal hospital

Employees returning to work at the Orchard Lake Animal Hospital on Nov. 8 found a broken back window and about $500 cash missing, Diamond said.

Police have no suspects from the incident, which is believed to have taken place overnight between 8 p.m.-7:30 a.m., Diamond said.

Jewelry stolen from residence

Police have no suspects from a breaking and entering incident believed to have taken place between 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the 7200 block of Coldspring, Diamond said.

A large pry bar was used to open the front door and thieves took an unknown amount of jewelry, he said.
