Thefts from Vehicles Increase as Weather Warms, West Bloomfield Police Say

More than a half-dozen vehicle owners contacted police over the past week.

With warmer weather, West Bloomfield Police expect an increase in reported thefts from vehicles, including more than half a dozen over the past week.

Residents in the area of Walnut Lake and Halsted Roads contacted police April 5 to report items taken from their vehicles overnight. One resident in the 5000 block of Glen Eagles told police a $250 Cobra radar detector was taken from his locked vehicle, Lt. Tim Diamond said. No sign of forced entry was found, Diamond added, and the vehicle was parked in front of the home.

In the 5000 block of Greenbriar, someone entered an unlocked 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee and took a Gucci wallet and 30 CDs in a case. The total loss was more than $550, Diamond said.
