Amended Ordinance Limits Soliciting

A newly-amended ordinance limits door-to-door solicitors in West Bloomfield to 9 a.m.-7 p.m., or the official time of sunset.

Door-to-door solicitors in West Bloomfield cannot visit after sunset during the winter months as part of ordinance amended by the West Bloomfield Township Board at its meeting in Dec. 12.

The solicitors hours ordinance amendment approved as part of the consent agenda at that meeting limits door-to-door calling hours to 9 a.m.-7 p.m. or the official time of sunset, whichever is earlier. The previous ordinance allowed for solicitors to come until 7 p.m. eastern standard time, or until 9 p.m. during daylight savings time.

Now in effect after its approval, the amendment will limit the hours which door-to-door solicitors can work. For example, the official time of sunset in Michigan Dec. 23 is 5:03 p.m.
