Township Holds Workshops to Gain Town Center Feedback

West Bloomfield officials will speak with residents and business owners about plans to change zoning ordinances that apply to a portion of Orchard Lake Road.

West Bloomfield Township officials will host two workshops later this month to connect with residents and business owners about development regulations within the Town Center Overlay District, on the Orchard Lake Road between 14 Mile and Maple Road.

The meetings are part of a study designed to ensure that reasonable regulations are in place to guide future redevelopment in an "appropriate, market viable, cohesive, aesthetically pleasing and pedestrian-friendly manner", according to a township press release.

An interactive Community Workshop on Oct. 23, 7 p.m., at West Bloomfield Town Hall will give residents a chance to provide input before any concepts and recommendations are formulated. A Business Workshop will be held on Oct. 24, 8 a.m., at the Drake Road Sports Park.

The study will also include a design competition among area colleges and universities, offering local students a chance to present their concepts for potential redevelopment within the Town Center Overlay District.
