West Bloomfield Township May Pay More for Water

If approved by the Detroit Water Board, a 5.16 percent jump in wholesale water costs could take effect July 1.

A proposed increase in wholesale water rates charged by the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) may mean another water bill increase for West Bloomfield Township residents.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit Water Board will consider new rates next month; rates would take effect July 1.

The Free Press report indicates West Bloomfield Township could pay 5.16 percent more in 2014-2015. In previous years, wholesale water rates have taken double-digit jumps.
