"Bullying is No Joke; An Evening of Comedy in Support of Anti-Bullying" Featuring Comedian JB Smoove
DEFEAT THE LABEL, the international anti bullying non-profit, announced their first annual ever comedy fundraiser, "Bullying is No Joke; An Evening of Comedy in Support of Anti-Bullying" Featuring Comedian JB Smoove Saturday, October 26th at 7:30p.m. The performance will be at THE BERMAN CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS. “Thirteen million children are bullied in school each year, this is a problem that is affecting the lives of all of our youth and it is time to take a stand,” stated Jeff Sakwa, President of Defeat the Label. “Our hope is that Defeat the Label is the key organization when it comes to the anti-bullying movement, providing supports, programming and classroom toolkits to offer students an opportunity to take a stand against bullying in their own schools.”
JB Smoove is a actor, writer and comedian best known for his recurring role as Leon on the popular HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm with Larry David. He has also appeared in Till Death, Russell Simmons's Def Comedy Jam, Saturday Night Live, Mr. Deeds and many other television shows and feature films.

Funds from ticket sales and donations from this event will go to Defeat the Label. Defeat the Label works to provide financial support anti-bullying school programs and curriculums. Funds will also be attributed to the launch of an interactive application, BullyShout, that will be integrated with a 24 hour Anti- Bullying Hotline. The National 24 hour BRAVE(Building Respect, Acceptance, and Voice through Education) Anti-Bullying Hotline and BullyShout application will be run by the Mental Health Association of New York City (http://www.mhaofnyc.org/). These initiatives will be the first of their kind and create an outlet for those who feel they have nowhere else to turn.
