Cold Weather Closes West Bloomfield Area Schools Tuesday

Officials in West Bloomfield, Walled Lake and Farmington school districts have cancelled classes due to bitterly cold temperatures.

With below zero temperatures and wind chills expected to dip well into double digits, officials in school districts serving West Bloomfield have called off school Jan. 28. 

West Bloomfield Public Schools, Walled Lake Consolidated Schools and Farmington Public Schools all cancelled classes Monday afternoon. 

The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts a low of -7 Monday night and high of just 3 degrees on Tuesday. Add in winds blowing at 10-15 miles per hour, and the potential exists for wind chills falling to 30-35 degrees below zero. 

Dangerously low wind chills will persist through Wednesday morning, according to the NWS.
