Varsity Hoops Teams to 'Battle for Bloomfield' for Final Time
Andover, Lahser High Schools' girls and boys basketball teams will play the last game against each other on Saturday night at Oakland University.
Wondering what to do with yourself this weekend? Well, it's not often you get to be part of local history, and whether you follow the Andover Barons or Lahser Knights, the final scheduled basketball game between these cross-district and crosstown rivals should be memorable.
'The Battle For Bloomfield' Andover Barons vs. Lahser Knights
- When: The girls tip off Saturday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m., while the boys play on the same date at 8 p.m.
- Where: Oakland University Athletics Center O'Rena in Rochester
- Cost: $5. But Baron and Knight fans that buy a Battle of Bloomfield t-shirt at either school during lunch this week for $10 get free admission to the game, as long as they're wearing it.
- Why Go: With consolidation to the new Bloomfield Hills High School looming in 2013, this game (barring playoff) should be the final time the varsity squads from Andover High School and Lahser High School meet on the hardwood.
