OP Oldtimers 2011 Softball Championship

I thought you'd like to know about the following upcoming event. You might have an interest in covering the story.

There will be an Oak Park Old Timer's Mini Softball Tournament (for ages 50-65) held on Sunday, August 7th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Drake Sports Park in West Bloomfield (Drake Road just south of Maple Road). Last year in our first old timers game we had 42 players participate and over 200 spectators watching, including media. Forty years ago Oak Park used to be "the mecca" for softball in the state, when both professional and residential teams used to compete each weekend in the summer. What started out last year as a desire for some old friends to have a pick up reunion game, has now grown into this:

We we will have over 50 players participating, divided among 4 teams. They will be competing in a mini tournament to determine the 2011 Oak Park Old Timers Softball Champion. Included among the players will be Larry Foote, Sr., who is the father of former University of Michigan All American and 2-time Pittsburgh Steeler Super Bowl Champion, Larry Foote Jr. Also included will be Larry Sherman, recent inductee into the Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. Many other well known professionals in the area will be playing as well. It will be a "feel good" time for all attending!
