West Bloomfield Tops Seaholm; Faces Marian For District Title

The Lakers dispatched the Maples Wednesday, and will try to win the district title at host Marian Friday.

West Bloomfield High School's girl's varsity basketball team advanced to the district finals with a win over Birmingham Seaholm Wednesday. 

The Lakers, now 9-11, topped the Maples 58-32 during the first round of the MHSAA playoffs at Marian High School, according to Mlive.com. They advanced to play host Marian at 7 p.m. Friday.

The win snapped the Lakers' losing streak at two, and marked another strong defensive outing. West Bloomfield has allowed less than 39 points on average over the last four games.

The Marian High School Mustangs reached the district finals with significant momentum from winning their first Catholic High School League championship in three years. Marian ended the Andover Barons' season on their home court 77-35 Wednesday night, behind Kara Holinski's 16 points, and smothering defense against star guard Shannon Wilson, Miprepzone.com. reported.

Kilyn Bulluck scored 13 and Laura Bruton scored 10 for the Mustangs, according to Miprepzone.com.

Marian (18-3) has won 10 out of their last 11 games.
