the historical reality of race is in the past, but the ideologies of jesse al and even Obama who useRead More race as excuses for poor behavior is wrong. change will on happen when the culture changes it mentality

Gregg, The historical reality of the Crusades, the taking of America by European settlers, theRead More Holocaust, the Middle East and September 11 are ALL in the past,,, but those actions shaped the world we live in,, peoples perceptions of each other and how they were treated and abused by their oppressor. The "past" does not diminish the reality or suffering that occurred does it? People like myself will never brush it away so easily,, I know why people do,, it's because they'd sooner deny those realities than stand up an accept their races historical role in them.

Oh look, another scientific reality that Dale doesn't understand. Or chooses not to. Or unreasonablyRead More throws mud at because it fits an extremist ideology he wishes was true. How completely not surprising.

He did not have a "submachine gun", he had an ordinary pistol. (One way you can tell isRead More that there was no mention of an additional federal charge for illegally possessing one. Another way would be to Google Intertec 22, assuming you understand that a machine gun fires more than one round when you pull the trigger, and this one obviously does not.) This is just the media trying to hype up the story by inventing a machine gun where there was none. Isn't it a good enough story that some felon went nutcase with an illegally possessed stolen pistol?
JAR April 15, 2014 at 10:12 am
Very well stated, Treasurer Weingarden. I witnessed several meetings where you were verballyRead More attacked. I have never seen public officials behave so badly, immaturely, unprofessionally, and irresponsibly (except for Rob Ford, Mayor of Toronto). This is a blatant witch hunt, and the board (except for Mrs. Weingarden) should be ashamed and embarrassed by their behavior. They are using Mrs. Weingarden as their scapegoat to cover up their own inabilities and poor judgment. As citizens, our tax dollars should not be spent on this frivolous, unfounded, and irresponsible pursuit. West Bloomfield deserves better. It’s the other members of the board that should step down and let better qualified, and certainly better behaved professionals, take over those positions. Let Treasurer Weingarden do her job for an appropriate and dignified salary, which she deserves. She is certainly qualified. Unlike the rest of the board, that has been irresponsible with our money, Mrs. Weingarden has saved the township money. Stop the madness!
Bob April 15, 2014 at 01:08 pm
Truth be told...Terri is not a good treasurer and was trained at taxpayer expense. She is not goodRead More at it. With that said....the entire board should be booted. Cathy Shaunesy in particular is a cancer within township hall. She could've tried to help Teri, but would rather further her own agenda.....someone w/o a college degree and bankrupty should not be throwing stones.
The ACLU of Michigan has entered the legal fray surrounding gay marriage in Michigan, filing a lawsuit to require the state to recognize about 300 same-sex marriages performed last month during the 24-hour period gay marriage was legal in the state.

Racerboy: what you just posted is totally different than what you posted previously. Before you wereRead More lecturing on voting and democracy. Btw, most of the time things get thrown out and never make it the supremes, because lower appellate courts don't hear them. People may have the ability to pass unconstitutional things by popular vote, but they don't have the right to do so.
Tara April 16, 2014 at 11:04 am
Daffy, There you go again.... I have been factual, rational and civil on the other hand you haveRead More called others 'thick, horrible and a troll' and, yes, thank you, you are not the scholar that I am. That said, now for your history lesson....You claim in your second to your last posting that " why hasn't it (polygamy) anywhere ever? (Oh dear, I am sorry about your grammar, but I will persevere) To address your point, plural and traditional marriage have been practiced for thousands of years as opposed to the idea of same sex marriage which has only been around for a few decades. Plural marriage is still practiced currently in many countries today and was also practiced in the U.S. in the nineteenth century until it was made illegal due to cultural differences and religious discrimination. There are many cultures today who practice plural marriage including Mormons and many of our new immigrants coming from Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Why should their rights be denied? Because people like you say so? Your very own argument for gay marriage will pave the way for their marriage equality! Our country today takes pride in 'cultural diversity' this is just another facet of an open society, the kind of society we all want to live in, right? Oh, and one more thing, you can't seem to find any court cases for plural marriage...well, there's a very interesting one in California that's pending about a heterosexual couple who hired a surrogate mother to have their baby. Well, guess what? They all fell in love and now all three of them want to be married to each other. Now that makes perfect sense to me, you have the husband, the wife and the mother of the baby, sounds like a marriage made in heaven and wonderful for the baby too!
Ron April 16, 2014 at 11:11 am
Tara,,, MANY Gay folks in America have been married,, MANY states have made gay marriage LEGAL.Read More NOWHERE in America is it a crime to be gay. NOWHERE is America is it LEGAL to marry more than one person. Those are the facts,, can we stick to those? The laws against gay marriage will be proven to be unconstitutional. It can be annoying to get news from areas other than your own, however the new Patch is doing things differently, and show no evidence of changing it back.....my best advice would be to ignore stories not in your area, and to write your editor directly, and share your comments with those who can make changes.

Well, I was a parent to three, and all are successful medical professionals. Do you watch the newsRead More or know any teachers in public schools. Ask teachers if kids are fine. Unfortunately, we created the lazy...LBJ's Great Society has spent $Trillions developing an entireRead More segment of society totally dependent on Government for it's survival. Now, that group has grown in such numbers as to be able to elect a Socialist-based representative government. They in turn, continue to provide more and more Government supplied perks. It will be very difficult to halt this death spiral into oblivion. They have control of our primary, secondary and collegiate educational system...literally indoctrinating our children into the Socialist lifestyle...which looks good on paper. It works really well until you run out of someone else's money. We are at the critical tipping point where the takers are dangerously close to out numbering the makers. We need to wake up now.

It doesn’t take much for the “mob mentality,” or “herd mentality” toRead More kick in. It appears this began as a hate crime and then that mob mentality kicked in, and emotions raged blinding all to the reality of their actions. There’s a lot of anger in this country - it doesn’t help that our political, legal and financial leaders are systematically destroying the middle class, creating a much larger, more lethal lower class.
Ron April 16, 2014 at 09:03 am
Michelle,, Please,,, "they PROBABLY bred the hatred for whites in him"....... I wouldRead More agree that we can teach our children ANYTHING we choose to. However,, I cannot imagine how you can make such a blatantly racist assertions without a SHRED of proof. I would suggest that the number of parents that actually knew their child was capable of a crime is quite low,,,, Timothy McVeigh,, Adam Lanza,, both white and both guilty of committing atrocities against innocent people,,,, can you seriously say the same thing about those white families you just said about the young man that attacked Mr. Utash in Detroit? Or do you have a different set of "standards" for white criminals?

according to a master plan for Detroit promoted a couple of years ago, the idea is to congregateRead More populated areas of the city and move out those who live in sparser settled areas. If that plan comes about, what happened to Mr. Utash will only be the first instance of a way of life. Although regular citizens will move out, there is certainty that the lawless will move into the vacated parts of Detroit. If you stay in a populated part of the city, you should be relatively safe. However, if you have business or pleasure that takes you out of one populated area into another populated area, you will have to pass through the "Sherwood Forest," full of outlaws, in between. Woe betide the innocent traveler, like Mr. Utash, who is caught out there. My response to this is to carve Detroit into three pieces: The City of Grand River (north of I-96 and west of Woodward), The City of Gratiot (north of I-96 and east of Woodward), and The City of Detroit (south of I-96). These cities would be self-sufficient, but could share resources if they wanted to. The benefit would be local control of utilities and services. Also, any empty spaces would be smaller and more easily controlled than ones in the present 139 square miles of Detroit. Additionally, with local control, builders would appear because people apparently want to live closer to the core of an area, which in this case, would be the smaller City of Detroit. Detroit once was a small settlement along the river bank. It expanded to take in a huge area as people flocked in. Why can't it retract in order to meet the current circumstances?

So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!
